An Exciting Announcement! (Not a baby)

Good news, everyone!

Jake and I have decided to move to Europe. We started the process of getting everything in order today, but we expect that it will take at least a month until we are ready to go. We've been saving up since before we got engaged, but we figured it would be a few years before we could "responsibly" take off. As it always seems to go when we think we have good plans, after we put our wills aside even better opportunities came along.

Our plan is to live abroad for at least a year. Jake will keep his job here and work from wherever we are living via the internet. I will look for jobs overseas and we will potentially try to get a visa if I find a teaching job abroad. For now, our plan is to hop around to different countries every three months so that we aren't staying anywhere illegally.

Yes, we know this is crazy. Yes, we know it may not work out according to our current plan. Yes, we know it will be hard and scary and slightly irresponsible. We will miss our friends and family and we will even miss Oklahoma. It will be difficult, but that's part of the experience.

We think the 19th century sage, good ole' Ralph, sums up our feelings pretty well: "Don't be too timid and squeamish about your actions. All life is an experiment. The more experiments you make the better. What if they are a little coarse, and you may get your coat soiled or torn? What if you do fail, and get fairly rolled in the dirt once or twice. Up again, you shall never be so afraid of a tumble."

So, we are about to embark upon our experiment. I created this blog to keep our loved ones up to date on our adventure, the good and the bad. Wish us luck on our crazy adventure!
